Art and motherhood

I would like to share some additional details from my biography that I believe are essential for a deeper understanding of my personality, qualities, motivations, determination, and commitment.

An artist never stops being an artist even as a mother.

2021

I joined the L1 Association and soon discovered I was pregnant. Despite this, I was asked to perform my solo piece. Due to the physical limitations of my pregnancy (25 weeks), I adapted by teaching the movements to another dancer. I revised the dramaturgy, incorporating myself and a singer into the performance. That evening, I presented "28+2," a piece reflecting my feelings about pregnancy and my body's limitations.

I also received a grant from the Hungarian National Fund (IZP, NKA). As part of the program, I needed to present a 12-minute performance for the curators to secure further funding for a full 40-minute piece. Anticipating my due date, I meticulously arranged everything to ensure the performance could proceed without me. Remarkably, while experiencing contractions in the hospital, I provided final instructions about space and lighting. The outcome was successful, and I got the funding for the complete piece.

2022

Eight months after my C-section, I performed my solo at L1 Eves. Embracing my new mindset and altered body, I used these changes as inspiration during the performance.

I received a residency grant from NKA, allowing my dancers and me to conduct a two-week research period for our piece, "Rage." During this time, my husband cared for our child, who celebrated his first birthday at the residency.

At the premier's event, I performed my solo.

2023

At the beginning of 2023, I learned I was expecting my second child. At six months pregnant, I created a solo version of "Rage" for L1 Eves and even served as the light technician for the performance.

A few weeks before my due date, I was asked to perform both my solo and "Rage." Seizing the opportunity, I taught my solo material to another dancer while eight months pregnant. The festival took place just two weeks before my due date. Ultimately, I had the chance to collaborate with the theater's light technicians and my dancers.

Experiencing my pieces alongside my child and knowing her presence allowed me to be there was an incredibly fulfilling experience. I am deeply grateful for these moments.
